When darkness veils His lovely face,
I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.
When darkness veils His lovely face,
I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.

His oath, His covenant, His blood,
Support me in the whelming flood;
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my hope and stay.
His oath, His covenant, His blood,
Support me in the whelming flood;
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my hope and stay.

When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh, may I then in Him be found;
In Him, my righteousness, alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.
When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh, may I then in Him be found;
In Him, my righteousness, alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.

Singing hymns is spiritually stabilizing. It feels different from the high praise worship session, it always sound so personal, so soothing.

I am going through a tough time of dissolution of relationships and for some reason I have had this song up for the past few days. This morning as part of my devotion "Surrender" was the theme. Although it makes sense to surrender my situation to God especially since the situation and relationships I was in were not the best and I was unequally yoked it is not the easiest of things to do. This song should help us realize that while we can point accusing fingers to man all we want, until we reach a point of total surrender and to the truth that ALL other grounds we look to for validation is sinking sand SAVE JESUS CHRIST then disappointment, fear and frustration will be our portion. This world is not home and the JOY of our eternal home should far outweigh any pleasures we can enjoy temporarily here on earth. Feels good to know we are loved and the one who loves is the CREATOR of the world Himself.

Am all tears as am singing this hymns. Indeed Christ is my solid rock and all other problems in my life are sinking sand. I know as my Redeemer lives I will face tomorrow. God bless the composer of this hymn.

Standing on Jesus Christ the solid Rock, all the world's numerous problems are nothing but sinking sand. This is our assurance of salvation. God bless you Edward Mote for such inspiring words.
