1
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus Christ, my righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus' name.
Than Jesus Christ, my righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus' name.
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand,
All other ground is sinking sand.
All other ground is sinking sand,
All other ground is sinking sand.

When darkness veils His lovely face,
I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.
I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.

His oath, His covenant, His blood,
Support me in the whelming flood;
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my hope and stay.
Support me in the whelming flood;
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my hope and stay.
4
When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh, may I then in Him be found;
In Him, my righteousness, alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.
Oh, may I then in Him be found;
In Him, my righteousness, alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.

Jesus, my solid Rock!
Truly our hope should only be built on Jesus Christ our redeemer. Not on materistic earthly things. Let's build our trust in God each day

Someone has got the words wrong.
It should be
First verse... Jesus’ blood and righteousness’
Forth verse... clothed in His righteousness alone...
Any righteousness I have is because of the righteousness Christ has imputed to me through His sacrifice and shed blood
1Peter 3:18 Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God.

Boy, did this ever stir up a ruckus at church.
If you're going to change the words - please tell us next time.
My righteousness has nothing to do with it - it's Jesus' blood and righteousness which is the forgiveness of God and the Gift of the grace of God.

When my mind runs through this hymn it strengthens my faith in God. I believe in each line on the song.
Thank You Jesus.
You are correct (Anonymous on Oct 25). The Blood is removed by your modern day hymns and singers just like it is in the modern day bible versions. This hymn was written by Edward Mote in the early 1800s and he believed Hebrews 9. 22 which says "without shedding of blood is no remission." and Romans 3. 24-25 which says "Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins..."
I thought the first verse was, "My hope is built on nothing less Than Jesus' blood and righteousness;"
