Man of Sorrows, what a name

What a comfort this song is. Glory be to God.

Man of Sorrows was part of a Cantata we sung at church several years ago. Was the name of the Cantata "What a Saviour"?

Beautiful words. Yes the last verse does it. Sometimes the words of some songs become my prayer.

Thank You Jesus for standing in my place.

Salvation is not free! Christ paid the full price so we can obtain it freely! Oh how dear the price!

Thank You Lord for Your full redemption.

When we imagine the contradiction our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ suffered in our hands before and at the cross we see Divine Love demonstrated. So much love rewarded with intense rejection and hatred. But love conquered, divine mercy triumphed over deserved judgement. Hallelujah! what a Savior!

How great an expression of the invaluable salvation acquired without human merits but by grace. Alleluia what a Savior!

I am using this hymn this Sunday when our congregation will be concentrating on the rejection, bullying, injustice and being abandoned by many that Jesus encountered during Holy Week. We tend to concentrate on the suffering on the Cross - but Jesus suffered all that we suffer in our daily lives - so fully understands our suffering. Truly the Son of Man - as He called Himself as well as the Son of God.

The song reminds me of what the Saviour did on the cross. Hallelujah! O what a Saviour!
