He washed the bleeding sin-wounds,
And poured in oil and wine;
He whispered to assure me,
"I've found thee, thou art Mine:"
I never heard a sweeter voice,
It made my aching heart rejoice.

He pointed to the nail-prints,
For me His blood was shed;
A mocking crown so thorny,
Was placed upon His head:
I wondered what He saw in me,
To suffer such deep agony.

Was placed upon His head:

I'm sitting in His presence,
The sunshine of His face,
While with adoring wonder
His blessings I retrace.
It seems as if eternal days
Are far too short to sound His praise.
I'm sitting in His presence,
The sunshine of His face,
While with adoring wonder
His blessings I retrace.
It seems as if eternal days
Are far too short to sound His praise.

So while the hours are passing,
All now is perfect rest;
I'm waiting for the morning,
The brightest and the best,
When He will call us to His side,
To be with Him, His spotless Bride.
So while the hours are passing,
All now is perfect rest;
I'm waiting for the morning,
The brightest and the best,
When He will call us to His side,

I also wonder what He saw in me
To suffer such deep agony.
Psalm 144:3 says "O Jehovah, what is man, that You take knowledge of him, / And the son of mortal man, that You think of him?"
I am nothing but He suffered deep agony to redeem me. My days are like a passing shadow but He laid down His life for me and sought me that I may return to Him. O how sweet it is to remember our Shepherd and Savior!

Hallelujah! Lord’s love sought me, Lord’s blood bought me. Then Lord’s wonderful shoulders brought me back to the divine flock! Amen.

What a wonderful song, it left such grace in my heart. It is one of my favorites.
For sure Christ washed my sins away and my sinful nature was crucified on the cross with Him and His wounds pleaded for me! (Romans8)

I Corinthians 10:13 promises that He will make a way of escape from temptation. One evening I was especially battling a temptation that I really wanted to give in to, but I was praying for deliverance when all of a sudden these modified lyrics popped into my thoughts.
In tenderness He sought me, weary and burdened with my sin
He whispered to assure me, “I have you, you art Mine:”
I never heard a sweeter voice, It made my aching heart rejoice.
O, the love that sought me, O the love that bought me!
O the grace that brought peace to my soul.
Wondrous grace that brings peace to my soul.
I have not heard this hymn in decades and yet it was playing in my head just as clear as day. I smiled. I rejoiced. The temptation was passed! He does make a way of escape! Wondrous grace that brings peace to my soul!

Today, I was sitting on the couch doing my devotions, and this song just flooded my heart. When I think of where I was, to where God has brought me, I can only say, it was His grace! What an Awesome God! 🙌🙌
