Studying a particularly difficult lesson I am supposed to teach in Sunday School tomorrow, this old hymn became my prayer . I know there are truths God wants to use me to impart. Without the Lords illumination and annointing I have nothing to give. Open my eyes Lord I pray!
I have been stressed over so many different things… struggling and praying for my daughter’s well being following surgery! We are not closely bonded and my fault.. after many hurts I withdrew from trying to help.. say the right thing.. feeling rejected!
But after her surgery.. I felt the need to be with her through the rough spots…and when she needed me to hold her head in being sick.. holding her hand.. she showed how much she appreciated my being there!! I hope a door has been opened !! But I fully believe my prayers were answered… I’ve constantly prayed for Gid to give her strength to get through her pain and loneliness! This Hymn came to me as I meditated this morning! Words of help to see things more clearly in relationships and dealing with all the chaos of this World…
In my devotion time this morning it was talking about being who God created me to be and not hiding behind my false self. It was a lot to unpack and as I began to pray this song popped into my head and came out of my mouth.
As I read a a devotional this morning for May 27, 2025 from Daily Bread, it ended with a question for reflecting, ; ... What about Jesus compels you to say, "W O W"? This hymn, "Open My Eyes, That I May See" immediately came to my attention like it was supposed to be part of the Lord's & my conversation today.
I also woke up this morning with this beautiful hymn that l sang in church. I grew up in an Assembly of God ministers home and everyone in our family plays piano , organ or guitar. My two sisters and I had a trio with perfect harmony. I loved my life in the ministry. I am now 81 and still hearing and worshipping with these beautiful old songs in my heart. How l miss real music in our churches.
I was thinking this morning on the beginnings of my being drawn to Jesus as a young girl. I was in a Girl Scout troop in my small hometown in South Carolina. Two young scouts sang this song at one of our meetings and it touched my heart and spirit. I haven't thought of it for over 60 years. So, I was led this morning to find the lyrics and sing along with it. I'm praying that all six of my grandchildren will be led as I was that day by the Holy Spirit to be moved/touched by a song, a Bible verse, a Sunday School teacher's testimony, or by a Christian friend who shares his/her love of Jesus! All who are drawn to Jesus are drawn in different ways. I think of the Apostle Paul's experience on the Damascus Road. I cherish that the Holy Spirit reminded me of this song this morning. And I'll be singing it often!
I woke with this song in my heart. America is so stressed at this time. This song is my prayer for myself and all in America. God is our only hope and strength. HOLY SPIRIT, Open our eyes, ears, mouth and mind to God’s will and plan for our country. Have Mercy on us . Awaken us to you. We need you so. I pray for forgiveness of transgressions and spiritual revival in America and all the world today. Thank you Father God for your promises Amen.
This has been my prayer anthem this week. Oh Lord that you would open our eyes, illumine us, Spirit Divine. May the darkness flee. In Jesus name.. For you are the light and the darkness will not overcome us
