Unto the Economy

1
God planned His great purpose in eternity,
This great will was hidden, a great mystery;
With wisdom and prudence He has made it known,
Through revelation, in Christ, the Son.
  Unto the economy of the fullness of the times,
To head up all things in Christ,
The things in the heavens in Him;
Unto the economy of the fullness of the times,
To head up all things in Christ
And the things on the earth, in Him.
2
Through Christ's incarnation God came into man,
And through crucifixion came redemption's plan;
Then in resurrection, the Comforter came,
And in His ascension exalt His name!
3
It is God's good pleasure to show us the Son,
And through His dispensing we are all made one;
Through this life abundant and rich life supply,
The church will be builded and beautified.

Ephesians is a book on the church. Verses 8 through 11 of chapter 3 say, "To me, less than the least of all saints, was this grace given to announce to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ as the gospel and to enlighten all that they may see what the economy of the mystery is, which throughout the ages has been hidden in God, who created all things, in order that now to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenlies the multifarious wisdom of God might be made known through the church, according to the eternal purpose which He made in Christ Jesus our Lord." In this short passage, at least six great matters are mentioned.

The first is the eternal purpose of God, the purpose that God made in eternity.

Second, there is the mystery which throughout the ages has been hidden in God.

Third, there is the divine economy of God's mystery. An economy is a plan, an administration. Every corporation or government has an economy, a plan, for dispensing or carrying out a certain enterprise. Likewise, the mystery that was hidden in God has an economy, a plan, an administration.

Fourth, there is the church that carries out the economy of God's mystery, which He Himself purposed in eternity past.

Fifth, there are the unsearchable riches of Christ. Sixth, there is the multifarious wisdom of God, which is made known through the church not only to men but also to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenlies. We all, especially the young brothers and sisters, should be able to recite these six items. However, to remember all these items requires that we have a proper concept concerning them. Thank You, Lord, for such an economy!

"Unto the economy of the fullness of the times, to head up all things in Christ, the things in the heavens and the things on the earth, in Him;" (Ephesians 1:10) Recovery Version

"And He subjected all things under His feet and gave Him to be Head over all things to the church, Which is His Body, the fullness of the One who fills all in all." (Ephesians 1:22-23) Recovery Version

Ephesians 3:9 “ and to enlighten all that they may see what the economy of the mystery is, which throughout the ages has been hidden in God, who created all things” (Recovery Version). May the Lord open our eyes to see His economy (dispensation), His hidden plan and purpose for the ages!
