Open my eyes that I may see

A beautiful prayer indeed! To open my senses to know and understand God's purpose in my life and to fear nothing, assured of God's love and His leading.

What a wonderful service you provide. Some of the words have been stuck in my mind, but I could not remember the name of the song. I love it! Many thanks.

It is a joy to be able to access traditional hymns on the Internet. This one blesses me as I listen and sing the words. Thank you for posting it.

I am familiar with the "gladly your warm truth everywhere" 3rd verse version. But Verse 4 is totally new to me. What a wonderful assurance and assurance to be led by the Spirit, just to walk in the light of His glory and grace.

What a lovely blessing this day for me. I have been wanting a "word' for 2015 and tonight the word "open" came to me and then the words to this hymn floated through my mind as confirmation that the Spirit Divine had finally answered my longing. I am so thankful.

In my devotional time this old hymn came to my mind through His Spirit within me. I thank The Lord that He knows what I am to pray for even when I am unaware. (Romans 8:26)

Christian music is like breathing to me. It is not uncommon to wake at night singing a hymn in my mind. So when I sat down for devotions today it was not a surprised when this old song popped into my head prior to beginning. I could not find this song in any of my old hymn books so I was so grateful it was online and glad to see the rest of the hymn.

I was led to look up the internet this morning. I pray that this hymn will guide me to know the Lord's will for me.

In our busy lives we often miss the quiet promptings of God's Spirit. And when we do hear God speak, we often ignore the message. ... This hymn calls us to watch and listen, and then act on what we have seen and heard, sharing it with others.

Clara Scott was a music teacher who composed a great deal of instrumental and vocal music. She became known for her book of anthems, "The Royal Anthem Book", which was published in 1882. Her productive life of composing and teaching at the Women's Seminary in Lyons, Iowa, is evidence that her eyes and ears were open to God's leading and that she was ready to share what God gave her.
