The Lord's my Shepherd, I'll not want

E527
1
The Lord's my Shepherd, I'll not want;
  He makes me down to lie
In pastures green; He leadeth me
  The quiet waters by.

My soul He doth restore again,
  And me to walk doth make
Within the paths of righteousness,
  E'en for His own name's sake.
My soul He doth restore again,
  And me to walk doth make
Within the paths of righteousness,
  E'en for His own name's sake.
3
Yea, though I walk in death's dark vale,
  Yet will I fear no ill;
For Thou art with me, and Thy rod
  And staff me comfort still.
Yea, though I walk in death's dark vale,
  Yet will I fear no ill;
For Thou art with me, and Thy rod
  And staff me comfort still.
4
My table Thou hast furnished
  In presence of my foes;
My head Thou dost with oil anoint,
  And my cup overflows.
My table Thou hast furnished
  In presence of my foes;
My head Thou dost with oil anoint,
  And my cup overflows.
5
Goodness and mercy all my life
  Shall surely follow me,
And in God's house forevermore
  My dwelling-place shall be.
Goodness and mercy all my life
  Shall surely follow me,
And in God's house forevermore
  My dwelling-place shall be.

I cannot ever sing this hymn without being reduced to tears. Then I know that God is very close to me.

This is my favourite hymn. So many times God has been there for me when "walking through death's dark vale" -- when troubled, exhausted, depressed etc.. The words of the psalm and melody of the song are beautiful.

The Lord has been my Shepherd since I was born. I've seen the hand of the Lord many times in my life and that song has been the theme of my life. God bless you all for the work you are doing for His kingdom.
