Fill My Cup, Lord

LSM207 NS340
1
Like the woman at the well, I was seeking
For things that could not satisfy.
And then I heard my Savior speaking—
“Draw from My well that never shall run dry.”

Fill my cup, Lord;
I lift it up Lord;
Come and quench this thirsting of my soul.
Bread of Heaven, feed me till I want no more.
Fill my cup, fill it up and make me whole.
2
There are millions in this world who are seeking
For pleasures earthly goods afford.
But none can match the wondrous treasure
That I find in Jesus Christ my Lord.
3
So my brother if the things that this world gives you
Leave hungers that won’t pass away,
My blessed Lord will come and save you
If you kneel to Him and humbly pray—

This is a beautiful song, it says to me that I need to eat from GOD'S HAND. That only God can truly fill me up, and make me feel whole and satisfied. This world offers temporary distractions and pleasures, but nothing can give me peace with God but God.

This song was coming to me early this morning, but I couldn’t remember part of the refrain, so had to look it up.

We used to sing this in our formerly vibrant Catholic Charismatic Lamb of God prayer group. It was so beautiful.

Thank God for this site and the Internet … which is a neutral tool, that can be used for good … like remembering old hymns or learning new ones or planting a garden, fixing a car or finding a recipe.

Thank you for this wonderful resource! I was fumbling around with my old Adventist Youth Hymnal and was way off base! Singing hymns is one of the dearest ways I commune with Jesus. Thanks for setting me straight on the melody!

This song has been going through my mind this morning. It reminds me of the early years of my Christian walk 50 years ago. As I now walk through some very difficult times, Jesus Christ still fills me. He alone can satisfy.
