Day by day, and with each passing moment

  Mode: MP3/MIDI
  1. Day by day, and with each passing moment,
    Strength I find to meet my trials here;
    Trusting in my Father's wise bestowment,
    I've no cause for worry or for fear.
    He, whose heart is kind beyond all measure,
    Gives unto each day what He deems best,
    Lovingly its part of pain and pleasure,
    Mingling toil with peace and rest.
  2. Every day the Lord Himself is near me,
    With a special mercy for each hour;
    All my cares He fain would bear and cheer me,
    He whose name is Counsellor and Pow'r.
    The protection of His child and treasure
    Is a charge that on Himself He laid;
    "As thy days, thy strength shall be in measure,"
    This the pledge to me He made.
  3. Help me then, in every tribulation,
    So to trust Thy promises, O Lord,
    That I lose not faith's sweet consolation,
    Offered me within Thy holy Word.
    Help me, Lord, when toil and trouble meeting,
    E'er to take, as from a father's hand,
    One by one, the days, the moments fleeting,
    Till with Christ the Lord I stand.

Jan. 24, 2012Joe EythWoodway, Texas, United StatesThe Lord put this song on my heart yesterday. I've known it for many years, and have found much comfort from it. However, sometimes we forget about some of the old hymns, with today's modern worship music. With two prodigal children and many needs within our life group, the timing was perfect. All I could do was bawl, as I sang out before the Lord this morning. Our God is good and doeth good.

Jan. 17, 2012Lorinda BuckmanHorsham, Victoria, AustraliaThe Bible says He will give us songs in the night. This song was given to me in the early hours this morning. I came to this site to check out all the words. What a blessing they give as my daughter is battling breast cancer.

Jan. 14, 2012Joan SpragueLake Forest, CA, United StatesOh how I wish we we were still singing these old hymns in the church today. It is increasingly hard to find a church that will sing the 'oldies' the way they were originally written. I've learned to sing How Great Thou Art in a totally new tempo and it still brings tears to my eyes. I heard a comment about the choruses we sing today. They are 7/11 hymns; seven words sung eleven times.

Jan. 9, 2012Sandra PiercyCarlisle, PA, United StatesI love piano. I am a great grandmother with a total of one year worth of piano lessons. I love this tune. I wish someone would let me know where to send away for this sheet music, and the cost. I would be glad to send the money, you could send the paid (in advance) sheet music. Either way, please let me know?

Nov. 13, 2011Marcia Neish-DawesUnited StatesThis song says it all; it reminds me how good, gracious and giving God is and that He is and will always be with me as this is His promise to me.

Nov. 12, 2011Donalene BillerBeaverton, OR, United StatesI was reading in Hebrews 11 about the saints and their faith to meet each trial with strength from Him. This song came to mind. What a blessing it is to read these comments and to know that we all share this same faith and are given His strength to live life Day by Day.

Sept. 27, 2011Kwame AppiahAccra, GhanaI am always encouraged and strengthened by this soul-inspiring hymn. God, please carry on to be Our LIFE and LIGHT in this DEAD and DARKENED world.
