In coming to the Word, we need to pray that the Lord will have mercy on us…Let us learn to pray, “Lord, have mercy on me. I don’t want to be covered by anything, and I don’t want to have anything between You and me. Lord, grant that there will be nothing between us. ” This should be not only our prayer, but also our attitude toward the Lord.

The hymn displays the man whose heart has been exchanged with the one God wants . A man who has been helped by the advocate, the intercessor, the standby - Holy Spirit. No one even himself friends, wife, work et cetera can come between. I cry intently for such a heart when I got this life-changing hymn.

Lately I have been feeling so separated from God. For some reason it just felt like my heart towards Him was cold and I figured He probably wasn't too pleased with me either. But praise the Lord His mercy leads us to repentance and confession leads to light. The light I received was that it was God who rent the veil. He took the initiative to bridge the separation between Himself and man. Through Christ he dealt with our sin. Now there is nothing between us. We should never allow ourselves to remain separated from the Lord. We must maintain our fellowship with God because without it there is no way to go on. If we allow ourselves to remain separated from God we in a sense are nullifying the work of Christ on the cross.
