Low in the grave He lay

1
Low in the grave He lay—
  Jesus my Savior!
Waiting the coming day—
  Jesus my Lord!

Up from the grave He arose,
With a mighty triumph o’er His foes
He arose a Victor from the dark domain,
And He lives forever with His saints to reign.
He arose! He arose!
  Hallelujah! Christ arose!
2
Vainly they watch His bed—
  Jesus, my Savior!
Vainly they seal the dead—
  Jesus my Lord!
3
Death cannot keep his prey—
  Jesus, my Savior!
He tore the bars away—
  Jesus my Lord!

Christ arose... as I mourn my brother David Ajiboye who lost his life in service of the Nigerian nation in the military in Takum Taraba state and to be buried in a week time at 72 special forces battalion in markurdi. I sang this song today in church with all passion on this Easter Sunday while in church with the hope that I will see him again on resurrection day.

Today is Maundy Thursday when our hearts begin to feel heavy with sorrow as we think of Jesus and his Last Supper with his beloved disciples.

Tomorrow on Good Friday, Christians around the entire world will remember and grieve the agony of our Savior crucified upon the cross for us…

But on Easter Sunday we shall sing this classic song with great gusto joyfully celebrating the victory of our Risen Lord Jesus over death and the grave….

Hallelujah! Christ Arose! He’s Alive!
