Christ has a full redemption made

1
Christ has a full redemption made:
  What a wonderful Savior!
We are redeemed! the price is paid:
  What a wonderful Savior!
What a wonderful Savior is Jesus,
  my Savior;
What a wonderful Savior is Jesus,
    my Lord!
2
I praise Him for the cleansing blood,
  What a wonderful Savior!
That reconciled my soul to God,
  What a wonderful Savior!
3
He cleanses me from all my sin:
  What a wonderful Savior!
And now He reigns and rules within;
  What a wonderful Savior!
4
He dwells within me day by day,
  What a wonderful Savior!
And keeps me faithful all the way,
  What a wonderful Savior!
5
He gives me overcoming power,
  What a wonderful Savior!
And triumph in each conflict hour,
  What a wonderful Savior!
6
To Him I’ve given all my heart,
  What a wonderful Savior!
The world shall never share a part,
  What a wonderful Savior!

Back in the early 90s, my Dad Pastored a branch of The Apostolic Faith Church in Ariaria, Aba, Abia State - South Eastern Nigeria. The late choir master, Brother Friday Johnson, would conduct this hymn in a most fascinating way, stamping his right foot on the floor whenever they switched to the chorus. My siblings and I loved it. So it created a beautiful, never-for gotten memory of this song in our little hearts.

Minutes ago, I sang through the entire stanzas reminiscing on those good, old days of learning many beautiful hymns every Sunday with Brother Friday Johnson who has long joined the choir celestial.

What a wonderful Saviour we have!

We are redeemed! The price is paid in full!

We're no more slaves; not to sin, not to Satan.

He's reconciled our souls to God and reigns within.

Hallelujah!

I woke up with this song on my lips. He is a wonderful savior! When I look back over my life I see He has saved me from so many things. I’m not just saved from Gods judgements by His judicial redemption, but I’m being saved from my old corrupted self life. I gave my life to Him when I was a teen ager. Now over the years I see He has gained some of my heart. Because I love the brothers. The Lord has enlarged my heart to care for others and to preach the gospel. I’m saved from the world and it’s vain promises. Now I trust in Him and His promises. What a wonderful savior. He is my Savior!

If you’re anything like me, you may sit in the morning with the Lord, and feel the heavy burden of living your life acceptably towards God today. That heaviness simply reflects my unwillingness to accept God’s gift in my life, Jesus. The moment I stop looking at the heaviness inside, and start declaring the facts that God has promised, the heaviness departs at light speed and is replaced by Jesus himself as the wonderful savior. This hymn summarizes the promises that are so crucial especially v 4&5, and I love to declare them with God. THIS is the truth, THIS is the fact, not how or what I feel. As I learn to live by God’s facts, not my feeling, the joy just deepens and so does the lightness of living! This hymn helps so much.

God, please let us experience the truth of this hymn and live it moment by moment so that your Precious name may be mightily glorified in us.

This hymn touches me every time. God is awesome!

The chorus of Hymns, #986 says, "What a wonderful Savior is Jesus, my Savior; / What a wonderful Savior is Jesus, my Lord!" The word wonderful can also be replaced with trustworthy, lovely, or precious. There is no other Savior like Him under heaven or among men. He is both God and man; He is both the greatest and the least. He died for us, bearing all our sins and solving all our problems.

...

Many people who receive Jesus change immediately because Jesus has entered into their life. The Lord Jesus is not an objective Savior to them; instead, He enters into them as their subjective Savior. He is their life, light, heat, and power; He evens communicates with them. As a result, people who believe in Jesus are enlivened. The Lord Jesus, as both God and man, is our Savior. He is the greatest and the least; therefore, He is able to care for us in the most detailed way, and He is also omnipotent. He not only died for us but also enters into us to live for us. This is the wonderful Savior who is spoken of in Hymns, #986. He is trustworthy and lovely; He is so precious. May we all receive this wonderful Savior.
