Praise to the Lord, the Almighty

1
Praise to the Lord, the Almighty,
  the King of creation!
O my soul, praise Him, for He is thy
  health and salvation!
    All ye who hear,
Now to His temple draw near;
Sing now in glad adoration!
2
Praise to the Lord, who o’er all
  things so wondrously reigneth,
Who, as on wings of an eagle,
  uplifteth, sustaineth.
    Hast thou not seen
How thy desires all have been
Granted in what He ordaineth?
3
Praise to the Lord, who hath fearfully,
  wondrously, made thee!
Health hath vouchsafed and, when
  heedlessly falling, hath stayed thee.
    What need or grief
Ever hath failed of relief?
Wings of His mercy did shade thee.
4
Praise to the Lord, who doth prosper
  thy work and defend thee,
Who from the heavens the streams of
  His mercy doth send thee.
    Ponder anew
What the Almighty can do,
Who with His love doth befriend thee.
5
Praise to the Lord! Oh, let all that
  is in me adore Him!
All that hath life and breath, come
  now with praises before Him!
    Let the Amen
Sound from His people again;
Gladly for aye we adore Him.

I woke up yesterday with this song in mind. I hadn't listened to it or sang it in a long time as well. But I knew God wanted me to praise Him with this hymn. So I kept singing it and came here to find the lyrics I was missing. The hymn is all so nostalgic. Reminds me of my primary school days.

It's amazing to find that the comments before mine generally echo the same thing. God is doing a new thing and He wants us to praise Him - with this beautiful hymn.

This hymn struck a note of nostalgia in me this evening as we sang it during our family devotion. It happened to be our processional song during our wedding some 25 years ago. I appreciate the Lord for the inspiration.

Haven't sung this in many years. Learned this song as a little girl in the Baptist Church. I love old hymns and as I get older, I find myself resorting to embracing them more during worship

Every time the Lord gives me something I love and have long prayed for, I just sing this hymn over and over. The line "Hast thou not seen how thy heart's, desires have been granted in what he ordaineth" feels like water down my soul

Among the most remarkable DESIRES has granted: marriage, children, job, home. Yes the Lord grants not only our needs but also DESIRES

I woke up this morning humming the hymn and decided to search for it and then found it here. The hymn formed part of my early formative years as a believer.

Thank You for having it here.

This song just popped into my head this afternoon. I decided to sing it but couldn't remember some of the wordings. So I googled it and found it here, this reminds me of my primary school days. It is so uplifting , it is good to praise the Lord. Hallelujah!!!
